Enrolling Clinical Research Studies

Women's Health

First Trimester Pregnancy Loss

The experience of pregnancy loss is an understandably difficult time in a woman’s life but it’s important to know that nothing you did or didn’t do caused this to happen. Early pregnancy loss occurs in between 10 - 15% of pregnancies. You are not alone and you should not blame yourself.

We are doing research studies to help women who have just experienced a miscarriage with "Delayed Pregnancy Loss"--this means a miscarriage has occurred, and an embryonic heartbeat is no longer detectable, but your body has not completed the miscarriage process.  This is sometimes also known as an "incomplete miscarriage", a "silent miscarriage", or a "missed miscarriage".

The goal of Delayed Pregnancy Loss studies is to see if study medications, often mifepristone and misoprostol, can help assist your body in completing the miscarriage process and allow your body to release the pregnancy, without any surgery.  This could potentially give you physical and psychological closure.

To qualify, participants must be:

  • Females, aged between 18 y/o - 50 y/o
  • Diagnosed with Delayed Pregnancy Loss, confirmed by Ultrasound.  This means that an embryonic heartbeat is no longer detected, but your body has not completed the miscarriage process.
  • This study is not an abortion--it is to help a woman who has just miscarried but not yet completed the miscarriage process.
  • Gestational age was no older than 10 weeks and 6 days into the pregnancy as determined by ultrasound (this is considered "early pregnancy loss").

Additionally, subjects with an "anembryonic pregnancy" (also known as a blighted ovum) may qualify.

Qualified Participants will receive:

  • Compensation: If you qualify and participate fully, you can receive up to $725 total on a Delayed Pregnancy Loss/Miscarriage study, paid to a debit card.
  • Comprehensive Support: Regular check-ins and assessments to ensure your health is a priority. Our trials are conducted by experienced healthcare professionals dedicated to your well-being, including local Tucson OB/GYNs.
  • Free on-study care, including study medications: Study medications for First Trimester Pregnancy Loss are given at no cost.  There is no placebo arm: if you qualify on a given study, you are guaranteed to receive study medication if you so choose.  You may also have the choice of Expectant Management (waiting for a natural loss) if you choose that.

Mental Health

We have four new depression studies for our participants!  You can receive between $700 and $2,200, depending on which study you qualify for.

Some studies are for people who already take antidepressant medications.  Others are for people who are not currently taking antidepressants.  All studies are testing different new, investigational medications for depression, that might be taken instead of, or in addition to, existing medications (depending on the study).

Psilocybin-Analogue Depression Studies

Proving out investigational therapies for depression that are based on psilocybin can earn you $2,000+ if you qualify to join a mental health research study. Research studies are currently the only way to legally access psilocybin-like investigational therapies in the US.
